Extortion-accused taxi tycoon Joe ‘Ferrari’ Sibanyoni will remain behind bars until Friday after his case was postponed for formal bail proceedings.
Sibanyoni appeared in the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday with two co-accused. They face charges of extortion and two counts of money laundering.
The charges stem from a complaint lodged by a businessman in Mpumalanga, who alleges that the three men demanded money from him over a prolonged period.

The complaint was later reported to the South African Police Service at Kwaggafontein Police Station.
Sibanyoni has previously been mentioned in testimony before the Madlanga Commission in connection with alleged underworld figures. However, the matter currently before the court is unrelated to the commission’s proceedings.
Bail Application Set To Begin On Friday
Both the prosecution and the defence agreed to postpone the case to allow preparations for the bail application.
Magistrate DJ Erasmus confirmed the next court date.
“The matter is postponed until Friday, 15 May 2026, for the presiding officer and for the bail application to commence.”
