Nearly 70,000 SASSA beneficiaries have yet to collect their new Postbank black cards as the deadline for the migration from the old gold cards arrives.
SASSA said beneficiaries who miss Monday’s deadline will still be able to collect their black cards at designated sites.
However, SASSA spokesperson Thami Cele warned that the old gold cards are no longer operational and beneficiaries must collect their new cards to access their grants.

“The deadline that Postbank has been communicating since the beginning of 2026 has now finally arrived. We encourage beneficiaries to not wait until their grant is paid for September. We ask them to come in as soon as they possibly can.”
How To Collect Your Postbank Black Card
Beneficiaries can locate their nearest collection point by dialling *120*355#. They will then receive an SMS providing details of where they can collect their new card.

Cele said cards are available through participating retailers, including Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar.
“We only require your ID. We do not require you to go back to SASSA to register anything once you’ve collected the card. It works instantly.”
