The South African Police Service (SAPS) has reaffirmed that all its members are subject to the law and the organisation’s disciplinary procedures following the dismissal of Crime Intelligence deputy head Major-General Feroz Khan.
Khan was dismissed after facing misconduct allegations, including a charge of bringing the police service into disrepute.
He challenged the disciplinary process at the Labour Court, but the court dismissed his application on Monday.
SAPS Responds After Khan’s Labour Court Defeat
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said SAPS would abide by the court’s decision while continuing to follow the applicable legal and disciplinary processes.

“No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework. As the matter has been the subject of legal proceedings, SAPS will continue to respect and abide by the decisions of the courts and provide further information where legally permissible,” explained Mathe.
Khan’s dismissal followed his failure to attend a disciplinary hearing scheduled for last week.
Feroz Khan Also Expected Before Madlanga Commission
Khan’s dismissal comes as he remains linked to allegations being examined by the Madlanga Commission.
He is expected to appear before the commission on 28 September 2026, where he faces varying criminal allegations that have emerged during the inquiry.

The commission has been investigating allegations relating to criminality and misconduct within law enforcement structures, with several senior police figures and other individuals appearing before it.
SAPS said it would provide further information on Khan’s matter where it is legally permitted to do so.
