Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is expected to return to the Johannesburg Magistrates Court for his formal bail hearing as he faces multiple criminal charges linked to an alleged staged assassination attempt.

Mogotsi has been charged with perjury, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as discharging a firearm in a public space.

The State alleges that Mogotsi fabricated an assassination attempt in Vosloorus in November last year. By the time he appears in court, he will have spent more than nine days in custody.

Brown Mogotsi Faces Schedule Five Charges In Johannesburg Court

Over the past week, investigating officers travelled to Mahikeng in the North West to verify Mogotsi’s residential address as part of the ongoing investigation.

The State has not yet indicated whether it intends opposing bail.

However, the charges against Mogotsi fall under schedule five offences, placing the burden on him to convince the court that granting bail would be in the interests of justice.
