Cash-In-Transit Robbery Attempt In Bushbuckridge
According to police, the cash-in-transit van was parked in Bushbuckridge and occupied by two security officers at the time of the incident. One of the officers had reportedly gone into a nearby shop.
Police allege that a man armed with a sharp object approached the vehicle, opened the passenger door and attacked the security officer who remained seated in the driver’s seat.
“It is further reported that some security officers became aware of what was happening and are said to have fired shots at the alleged attacker, who fell to the ground.
“It is further alleged that the driver of the cash-in-transit vehicle subsequently drove over the man, who was later certified dead at the scene,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli.
