The African National Congress (ANC) has rejected claims that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was influenced by outside forces when he disbanded the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
The party said the ad hoc committee investigating police corruption allegations should not reach such a conclusion in its draft report. The report is still being finalised.

The conversation concerned Mkhwanazi’s objections to the disbandment of the PKTT. Committee members have also raised the issue during their discussions.
The ad hoc committee will continue considering its draft report during the week. Its members are expected to conclude their deliberations on 11 September. The final report will reflect the outcome of those discussions.
