The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has called for the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Andrea Johnson, to appear before Parliament following allegations made during proceedings at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
The party argues that the claims raised against Johnson warrant urgent parliamentary scrutiny and could have wider implications for the integrity of prosecutorial processes.
MK Party Wants Andrea Johnson To Appear Before Parliament
The demand follows testimony heard at the Madlanga Commission last week alleging that Johnson improperly shared information from a case docket with senior Crime Intelligence officer Feroz Khan in connection with an assault complaint against him.
Johnson had been expected to respond to the allegations before the commission on Monday. However, she did not appear after submitting a medical certificate.
The MK Party said the matter should be urgently considered by Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development. It also believes the committee should consider whether referrals to the Legal Practice Council are necessary.

The allegations emerged during evidence presented on Friday by retired Hawks colonel Kobus Roelofse.
Roelofse claimed Johnson compromised her office through alleged interference in police investigations and possible conflicts of interest involving Crime Intelligence.

MK Party Member of Parliament Mzwanele Manyi said the claims have serious implications for the credibility of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), IDAC investigations and prosecutorial ethics.
In a letter addressed to Justice Committee chairperson Xola Nqola, Manyi requested that the matter be placed on the committee’s urgent agenda.
MK Party Seeks Documents And Appearance By Senior Officials
Manyi has asked that Johnson, National Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi and Justice Minister Thembi Simelane appear before the committee to address the allegations.
He also called for the committee to obtain relevant documentation from the NPA, including conflict of interest declarations and communication records linked to the criminal complaint involving Feroz Khan.

Khan is currently receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries in what has been described as an apparent assassination attempt shortly before he was due to testify before the Madlanga Commission.
According to Manyi, the allegations against Johnson fall squarely within the committee’s oversight responsibility to monitor the performance, conduct and ethical standards of the NPA.
