The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has confirmed that Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya will not be recalled to provide additional oral testimony.

The announcement was made by the commission on Tuesday as hearings enter their final week before a short recess.

Sibiya, the suspended Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, has been implicated by several witnesses in alleged wrongdoing, claims he has firmly denied.

Madlanga Commission Prepares Second Interim Report For Ramaphosa

The commission is scheduled to pause proceedings from 18 May to concentrate on compiling its second interim report.

That report is expected to be submitted to President Cyril Ramaphosa on 29 May 2026.

The inquiry has been examining allegations involving law enforcement and criminal activity, with testimony from multiple witnesses over recent weeks.

Drug Seizures And Missing Narcotics Under Spotlight In KwaZulu-Natal And Gauteng

This week, the commission is focusing on drug seizures carried out by South African law enforcement agencies.

It is also investigating the handling, theft and disappearance of narcotic substances in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

According to commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels, this forms part of the continuation of evidence presented by several witnesses last week.

That includes the in-camera testimony of Witness H, which was heard on Friday, 8 May 2026.
