ActionSA says it will open criminal cases against President Cyril Ramaphosa over the long-running Phala Phala farm scandal, arguing that the time has come for him to answer for his role in the controversy.
The party alleges that Ramaphosa misrepresented the amount of money stolen from his Limpopo game farm in 2020, claiming recent reports indicate that R15 million was taken rather than the R10 million previously disclosed.
ActionSA maintains that the president should be held accountable for allegedly breaching the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

The party’s national chairperson, Michael Beaumont, said Ramaphosa should face charges under the anti-corruption law, as well as additional counts of perjury and fraud for allegedly making false statements to the police.
“Action SA is concerned that as we turn, more evidence is coming to the fore that the truth of what happened at Phala Phala in 2020 is only beginning to be revealed now.

“We will lay these criminal charges because there needs to be accountability for the manner in which the truth of Phala Phala had been kept from the South African people, all to protect the president.”

The Phala Phala scandal has remained one of the most contentious issues facing Ramaphosa’s presidency since revelations emerged about a theft at his Limpopo farm.
ActionSA said recent media reports suggesting that R15 million was stolen, rather than the previously reported R10 million, have intensified calls for greater accountability and renewed scrutiny of the president’s explanations.
