The suspects, wanted for a series of house robberies, murders, business robberies, and carjackings, were confronted by the police based on intelligence regarding their whereabouts.

According to Brigadier Jay Naicker, a police spokesperson, the officers received information that led them to the house in Emachobeni.

Upon announcing their arrival, the suspects responded with a barrage of bullets towards the police. In self-defense, the police officers returned fire, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Tragically, the shootout resulted in the fatal shooting of six suspects. Three additional suspects, including two men and a 31-year-old woman, were apprehended by the police. During the exchange, one police officer sustained a minor injury when a bullet grazed his hand.

Upon searching the scene, the police discovered two rifles and a shotgun in the possession of the suspects. Additionally, a vehicle that had been hijacked in KwaDabeka in December 2023 was also recovered.

The arrested suspects will soon face legal proceedings as they are presented before the court. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat crime and protect the community.
