Judges Matter Welcomes JSC Endorsement Of Maya As Next Chief Justice.

Independent judicial watchdog Judges Matter has expressed its approval of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)’s endorsement of Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya as the next Chief Justice. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon following an extensive interview with Maya.

While President Cyril Ramaphosa still needs to officially appoint her, Maya stands as the sole nominee he put forward for the position. Given this, it appears that her appointment is imminent.

In her interview, Maya outlined a vision that addresses the challenges faced by the judiciary. These challenges include increasing workloads and limited resources. Key aspects of her vision include:

“Her commitment to improving court processes and building trust is crucial during these challenging times.”
