Controversial North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has been arrested after police alleged that he staged an assassination attempt against himself.
The man, believed to be Mogotsi, is facing a charge of defeating the ends of justice, according to police.
The arrest follows an incident in November last year when Mogotsi claimed that unknown gunmen fired multiple shots at the vehicle in which he was travelling.
Police Investigation Links Firearm To Murder And Attempted Murder Cases
Police said their investigation into the reported attack uncovered significant developments, including a connection between the firearm allegedly used in the incident and several other violent crimes.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the firearm used in the commission of the crime has also been linked to other serious and violent crimes, including cases of murder and attempted murder.
“The suspect is expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Monday the 18th of May,” said police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
