An anti-immigration organisation, March and March, has issued Parliament with a 14-day deadline to respond to a memorandum outlining its demands following a march in Cape Town on Saturday.

A small group of supporters assembled in District Six before making their way through Cape Town’s central business district to Parliament.

Demonstrators called for the deportation of foreign nationals, moving through the city peacefully while singing struggle songs and chanting for foreigners to leave the country.

Although the march remained orderly, participants displayed hostility towards members of the media covering the event.

Parliament Receives Memorandum On Immigration

The organisation maintains that foreign nationals, including those running businesses in South Africa, should return to their countries of origin and work to resolve challenges there.

One unidentified speaker addressed foreign nationals directly during the gathering. “We are not lazy, but you are raising cowards. Go back and fix your country, be man enough.”

The memorandum submitted to Parliament alleges that migrants are occupying RDP houses, operating businesses without licences and taking employment opportunities in industries including agriculture, retail, hospitality and construction. There was no empirical evidence to substantiate those claims.

Group Calls For Deportation Of Foreign Nationals

Another member of the organisation, who declined to be identified, repeated the group’s position that foreign nationals should be removed from the country through legal processes.

“Individuals found to be in the country illegally should be processed in accordance with the law, including deportation, with fines where applicable.”

The organisation has also announced plans for its next demonstration, which is scheduled to take place in Sea Point on Youth Day next week.
