Former president and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma has called on South Africans to cast their votes strategically in the 2026 local government elections in a bid to shift the country’s political landscape.
Zuma delivered the message while addressing hundreds of MK Party supporters in Delft on the Cape Flats during the party’s election mobilisation rally ahead of the upcoming voter registration weekend.
The gathering formed part of the MK Party’s efforts to encourage voter participation and rally support ahead of the local government polls.

Speaking to supporters, Zuma said eligible voters should back a political party capable of delivering true liberation for South Africans.
He argued that many citizens had become disillusioned with the governing party and should carefully consider their choices at the ballot box.
The MK Party leader said the upcoming elections present an opportunity for voters to influence the balance of political power through their votes.

The rally attracted hundreds of supporters as the party intensified its campaign activities before the voter registration weekend.
Addressing the crowd, Zuma reflected on his party’s decision to part ways with the African National Congress (ANC), claiming it no longer represented the values it once stood for.

Zuma says, “And we are saying let us not be misled to believe that we are very free when we are not.
“That is the reason why we believe that the ANC, which we took to be our political party, was no longer serving us, and that was something else. And that’s the reason why we believe it was no longer the ANC we knew.”
