Babes Wodumo bares her soul in a new episode of Wena Wodumo on Moja Love, revealing the painful truth about her late husband, Mampintsha’s hospitalisation.
The gqom star candidly shared that they didn’t have medical aid and had to rely on cash to cover the mounting costs of his treatment, “We said we don’t have medical aid, we will use cash.
“While he was in the King Edwards Hospital, we received money. It was about R150,000,” she disclosed. But the drama didn’t stop there as Mampintsha was later moved to Durdoc Hospital.

Babes Wodumo recalled the gut-wrenching moment she left Mampintsha’s side just before his passing. After a long shift of watching over him, she went to take a quick bath.
“When I left to bath, he died,” she shared, revealing the moment that shattered her world forever. It was a cruel twist of fate, as she had just waved goodbye moments before his sudden passing. Babes now had to navigate life as a grieving widow and a single mother to their two-year-old son.

In the wake of her husband’s death, Babes is determined to stay strong despite the overwhelming heartbreak. Her sister, Nondumiso Simelane, revealed the struggles Babes faces in adjusting to the harsh reality of losing her partner.
“The sad thing is the bed is empty and she needs to take up more responsibilities. Babes is strong. What I like about her is she didn’t change her character,” Nondumiso said, adding a personal touch of support.

Babes Wodumo’s father also spoke at a memorial service, recalling the deep connection between the two, sharing how Mampintsha not only helped launch her career but also shaped her into the star she is today.
“He trained and taught her because Babes used to be a model in eThekwini… I will never forget him because he groomed my child to be the successful star she is today,” he said. Through tears and trials, Babes continues to push forward, carrying the weight of her past with resilience.
