Even the glamorous world of celebrities is not immune to the age-old problem of unpaid bills. South African singer Babes Wodumo has recently found herself embroiled in a controversy surrounding her failure to pay her make-up artist, Pearl Mhlongo of Pearlisiwe Make-Up and Skincare.

According to Mhlongo, she provided her services to Wodumo in 2021 but has yet to receive payment of R1200. In her account of events, Mhlongo explains that she was introduced to Babes Wodumo through a mutual friend who happened to be her client.

Initially, everything seemed to be going smoothly, with Wodumo paying her in cash for her make-up services. This led to Mhlongo becoming Wodumo’s go-to make-up artist, often visiting her house in Westville to work her magic on the singer’s face.

However, trouble arose when Mhlongo was invited once again to do Wodumo’s make-up but was not paid as promised. Wodumo assured her that she would be paid the following day, as she wanted Mhlongo to come back and do her face again.

Unfortunately, this promise was not fulfilled, and Mhlongo has been left empty-handed. Expressing her frustration, Mhlongo emphasizes that she is not seeking fame or trying to tarnish Wodumo’s reputation.

On the other hand, Wodumo’s manager denies the accusation, placing the blame on the late Sthembile, Wodumo’s former personal assistant. According to the manager, the unpaid amount is not Wodumo’s responsibility but rather that of the late assistant.

The manager claims to have tried reasoning with Mhlongo’s mother, who has been causing drama on social media, but no proof of communication from 2021 has been provided. The manager goes on to question the validity of Mhlongo’s demand for payment without any evidence of an agreed-upon amount.

Furthermore, she suggests that Mhlongo may be seeking attention by attempting to tarnish Wodumo’s name, despite Wodumo’s innocence in the matter. The manager warns that such actions could potentially be considered a crime and urges Mhlongo to reconsider her course of action.
