A captain attached to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Forensic Laboratory has been arrested on allegations of defeating the ends of justice.
The arrest was executed on Friday by the Madlanga Commission Recommendations Task Team and was officially confirmed in a media statement released on Sunday.
According to SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, the arrest follows investigations conducted by the specialised task team.
SAPS Captain Linked To High-Profile Murder Investigations
Mathe said the case is connected to allegations of defeating the ends of justice in several high-profile murder investigations currently being probed by authorities.
The allegations are also linked to evidence presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
“During the operation, the team seized several items belonging to the State, including ballistic reports, several rounds of ammunition and other evidential material relevant to investigations. The suspect is expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.”

The Times Post learned that investigators confiscated multiple items believed to be relevant to ongoing probes during the arrest operation.
Among the items seized were ballistic reports, ammunition and other evidential material allegedly linked to the investigations underway.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.
