The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has declared that it will not be swayed by intimidation tactics into retracting its reports accusing National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) board chairperson, Ernest Khosa, of defrauding the entity through kickbacks from service providers.
In January, OUTA released a comprehensive report and leaked audio recordings alleging that various companies contracted by NSFAS had paid millions of rands in kickbacks to Khosa and the Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande.
In response to the allegations, Khosa took a leave of absence in January to allow for a thorough investigation into the matter. However, he recently demanded that OUTA retract their report by Tuesday.

OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage confirmed that they had received the letter of demand but emphasized that the civil rights organization stands by its investigation.
OUTA’s commitment to its investigation demonstrates its dedication to uncovering potential corruption and ensuring accountability within public entities. The organization remains resolute in its mission to expose any wrongdoing that may compromise the integrity of institutions such as NSFAS.
As the investigation unfolds, it is crucial to allow due process to take its course. OUTA’s refusal to retract its reports showcases its commitment to upholding the principles of transparency and accountability.
The allegations against Khosa and other implicated parties must be thoroughly scrutinized to determine the veracity of the claims and ensure justice is served.
