Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, better known as Jub Jub, is facing an arrest warrant after failing to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 August.
The controversial media personality and musician was expected in court in connection with charges arising from an alleged incident involving an e-hailing driver. His legal team told the court that he had been booked off sick since Thursday, 20 August.
The court subsequently issued the warrant but ordered that it should not be activated before 7 September. Jub Jub is due back in court on that date, when the matter is expected to continue.

He faces allegations of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to make another person believe it was a firearm.
The case stems from an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on 14 June. Police allege that Jub Jub confronted the driver after accusing him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend, who had reportedly been dropped off at a residence in the area.

According to police, the confrontation allegedly escalated after Jub Jub forced the e-hailing driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. It is further alleged that he discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver during the incident.
The driver was able to get away without suffering injuries and drove directly to a nearby police station to report the alleged incident.
Jub Jub was subsequently arrested in connection with the allegations. He later approached the Johannesburg High Court on an urgent basis, citing concerns about the delay before his first appearance at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
Jub Jub Secured R5,000 Bail After High Court Application
The Jub Jub case reached the Johannesburg High Court shortly after his arrest. He sought his release on bail while waiting for his first appearance in the lower court. The High Court granted the application on 16 June and ordered his release on R5,000 bail.
The bail decision did not bring the criminal proceedings to an end, with Jub Jub still required to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court. The latest development came after he failed to attend Monday’s proceedings, resulting in the arrest warrant being issued.

The warrant, however, has been placed on hold until the matter returns to court on 7 September. This means Jub Jub has an opportunity to appear before the court on the next scheduled date before the warrant can be activated.

The Jub Jub court case is not the first time the television presenter has faced serious criminal proceedings. In 2012, he was convicted over his role in a crash that resulted in the deaths of four schoolchildren. His legal history has continued to attract public attention over the years.
In 2024, separate charges of rape, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against Jub Jub were withdrawn. He remains a familiar figure on South African television through his work as the presenter of Uyajola 9/9, while his latest criminal matter continues before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
