An 18-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man have died following a suspected gang-related shooting outside a tuckshop in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. The incident unfolded on Friday night and also left a third victim injured. Police have opened murder and attempted murder cases as investigations continue.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at the scene, where they discovered the young woman with a gunshot wound to her back. She was declared dead at the scene.

The Mitchells Plain shooting also claimed the life of an 18-year-old man who was rushed to hospital in a private vehicle after being wounded. Despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.
A 23-year-old man was also caught in the gunfire after being struck by a stray bullet. He sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm and received medical treatment.

The Mitchells Plain police have launched an investigation into the deadly attack. Authorities believe the shooting may be linked to gang activity, although the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said: “Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive is believed to be gang-related.
