The 25-year-old’s funeral took place two weeks after he was found dead at an apartment in Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap area. Those who knew him best remembered a gifted footballer whose humility matched his talent.
Jayden’s father, Juanito Adams, became emotional as he reflected on his son’s life and football journey. He said it had been a privilege to raise Jayden after recognising his football ability at a young age and stood by him through both the highs and challenges of his career.

“He was a player who was outgoing, a player you could easily connect with,” said Mkhalele. “What is remarkable about him, as shy as he is, he was very respectful.”

“He was one of the characters you’d always want to be around,” Kekana said. “It’s unfortunate that we lost such a young life. As a player, we used to enjoy watching him, he’d see the game differently. Not many South Africans know how to play the game like he used to, and that’s why he was so unique.”
Kekana added that Adams’ football intelligence and character made him stand out among his peers. He said the midfielder’s influence would remain with those who had the privilege of sharing the dressing room and the pitch with him.
