The founder of the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, Jabulani Khumalo, has made a fervent appeal to the Electoral Commission (IEC) to promptly remove Jacob Zuma as the party’s representative.
In a letter dated May 5, 2024, addressed directly to Zuma, Khumalo has taken the additional step of placing Zuma on precautionary suspension, citing actions that have brought the party into disrepute.

Khumalo’s letter follows his recent expulsion from the MK party, along with four other members. The party has labelled those suspended as rogue elements, emphasizing the need to distance itself from their actions.
This move by Khumalo highlights the growing dissent within the MK party and the urgency to restore its reputation.
With Zuma’s association potentially tarnishing the party’s image as the founder claimed, Khumalo’s call for his removal from the forefront is a strategic decision is aimed at safeguarding the party’s integrity.
It remains to be seen whether or not the IEC will pay attention to the letter.
