The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, recently addressed the media at Moses Mabhida Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), breaking his silence on former president Jacob Zuma’s decision to campaign for Umkhonto weSizwe, a newly registered party, instead of the African National Congress (ANC).
In response to Zuma’s choice, Malema stated, “President Zuma has the right to vote for any party he wishes to vote for, and we can’t interfere with his rights.”
Malema’s comments come after Zuma publicly announced last month in Soweto that he intends to vote for MK in the upcoming elections, believing it will help save the ANC from losing power.

However, Malema made it clear that the EFF has no affiliation with MK or any involvement in their campaign for the approaching national elections.
He also expressed his belief that Zuma is in denial about the ANC’s loss of control and power, emphasizing that no one, including former President Nelson Mandela, can rescue the party from its decline.
“President Zuma is in denial that the ANC is dead,” Malema stated. “He will cause himself a heart attack because those people (ANC) are not in a position to be rescued by anyone, including former President Nelson Mandela. He cannot rescue it with his Madiba magic.”

Malema warned his party members against participating in any activities planned by MK ahead of the elections, stating, “Try that with the EFF, and let’s see what will happen.”
He reiterated that the EFF’s constitution prohibits members from campaigning for or supporting other political parties.
As of now, the leadership of MK remains unseen, and President Cyril Ramaphosa has yet to announce the date for the general elections.
