During the operation, officers seized a large quantity of crystal meth, estimated to be worth R300,000. This marks a significant success in the battle against illegal drug trafficking, sending a clear message to those involved in the illicit trade.
The arrested suspects are believed to have been distributing drugs across key areas, including the bustling MTN taxi rank, Bree Street, and parts of Hillbrow, all known hotspots for drug activity.
Strong Words from MMC Tshwaku: “We’re Coming for You”
Tshwaku, addressing the media after the raid, issued a stern warning to drug dealers operating in the city: “We know that you’re in MTN taxi rank, we know you’re in Bree, we know you’re in other areas in Hillbrow – we’re coming for you. So now it’s going to be by-law and drugs. We’re going to deal with them decisively.”
His statement reinforces the city’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring a safer Johannesburg for its residents. The operation is part of a broader strategy to address public safety concerns and clamp down on illegal activities throughout the region.
