The investigating officer who apprehended alleged serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi will testify against the 21-year-old on Wednesday morning.

Last Monday, Sergeant Bongani Mbonambi told the court that the accused admitted to arranging the killings of six sex workers between April and October 2022.

The bodies of the women were discovered at Sifiso Mkhwanazi’s father’s panel beating workshop in Johannesburg in October 2022.

During Mkhwanazi’s trial within a trial, the State presented evidence, and he claimed that his father and Mbonambi pushed him into confessing that he premeditated the murders before backing down and blaming intimidation.

Mbonambi fired back at the claim, telling the court that authorities never needed his confession due to an overwhelming amount of evidence they had against the accused.

“We were never desperate, so we did not need his confession. What we had was enough.”

The court will hear how the accused picked up and killed his last victim, Joyce Moyo, and the rest of his victims.
