At least 10 people have lost their lives following a head-on collision involving a taxi and a bus near Standerton in Mpumalanga.

According to transport authorities, the taxi was carrying passengers towards Morgenzon when the crash happened on Thursday morning.

Eight people were declared dead at the scene, while another victim died on the way to hospital. A tenth person later succumbed to injuries in hospital.
