A memorial service will be held to honour the late retired Constitutional Court Justice, Yvonne Mokgoro. The service is scheduled to take place at the Nelson Mandela’s Children Fund in Johannesburg.
Justice Mokgoro, a trailblazer in the legal fraternity, passed away last week Thursday. She was involved in a car crash in April of last year, which ultimately led to her untimely demise.
Mokgoro’s legacy extends beyond her 15-year tenure as one of the first black women Justices of the Constitutional Court.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Northern Cape has indicated that Mokgoro’s partner may face charges of culpable homicide in connection with her death. The partner, allegedly the driver during the car crash, caused severe injuries to Mokgoro.
The memorial service aims to celebrate Justice Mokgoro’s contributions to the legal landscape and pay tribute to her remarkable career. Colleagues, friends, and admirers will gather to remember her enduring impact.
