A 26-year-old officer from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (JMPD) lost her life in a multi-vehicle accident on the R21 North.
The incident occurred just before the Bapsfontein off-ramp, leaving the law enforcement community and the public in shock.
The accident involved two vehicles and resulted in the tragic loss of the young officer’s life. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was declared dead at the scene.

As a result of the accident, officials have urged motorists to seek alternative routes. Currently, only one lane remains open on the R21 North, causing significant traffic congestion in the area.
Ekhurhuleni Metro Police spokesperson, Tabiso Makgato, has confirmed that three lanes are affected by the accident.
Given the heavy traffic, commuters must plan their journeys accordingly and consider using alternative routes to avoid further delays.
The authorities are working diligently to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
