A devastating fire tore through the Plastic View informal settlement in the City of Tshwane on Thursday night, destroying more than 100 shacks and leaving scores of residents displaced.
Emergency teams remained at the scene conducting search operations to ensure that all residents had been accounted for following the blaze.
The incident comes just days after another fire at the same settlement on 24 May claimed the life of a man, raising fresh concerns about recurring fires in the area.

City of Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba confirmed that, at this stage, no fatalities or injuries had been reported.
“We are still going to do search and recovery after we are done with firefighting operations. The cause of the fire will be determined once firefighting operations have been completed.”
Firefighters continued efforts late into the night to extinguish remaining hotspots and prevent the flames from spreading further across the densely populated settlement.
