Joe Schloms, a remarkable 100-year-old voter, has consistently exercised his democratic right by participating in every election since he became eligible to vote.
On Wednesday morning, Joe and his wife, Lynn Schloms, made their way to the Northwood Boys High School in Durban to cast their ballots. Despite his age, Joe walked to the voting station from the car and even spoke to the media after placing his ballot in the box.
In good spirits, Joe expressed his commitment to the country’s well-being. When asked about his hopes for South Africa’s future, he replied, “I don’t want anything to change.

“I would just like to see the country improve when ruled by a good cabinet.” Joe’s unwavering loyalty to the Democratic Alliance (DA) has remained steadfast since the party’s inception.
Joe’s perspective on national challenges is unique. Load shedding, service delivery issues, and corruption don’t faze him. He explained, “It doesn’t affect me because I’m very much relaxed, and I don’t do anything anymore. Things like that don’t worry me.”
The DA, according to Joe, is the party that should lead the nation. His unwavering support for the party reflects his belief in their ability to govern effectively.
