The Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday granted Fadiel Adams bail of R10,000 in a case connected to the long-running investigation into the 2017 murder of Sindiso Maqaqa.
Adams, a Member of Parliament, is accused of interfering with police work related to the investigation. Prosecutors allege that he unlawfully interviewed inmates at Westville Prison.
The matter was heard before Magistrate Gwendolyn Robertson, who handed down the ruling in the court west of Durban.

The bail decision means Adams will remain out of custody as he prepares to answer charges of allegedly tampering with and disrupting the police investigation.
The allegations centre on interviews he is said to have conducted with prisoners at Westville Prison in connection with the high-profile political murder case.

Maqaqa, a senior figure in the African National Congress Youth League, was murdered in KwaZulu-Natal in 2017.
His killing became one of South Africa’s most closely watched political murder cases, with investigations continuing to draw public and political attention.
