Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga, has unveiled the highly anticipated GBVF National Dashboard.
This innovative tool is designed to centralize real-time data, helping to track the progress of GBVF cases and offering a comprehensive view of the nation’s response at every level.
The dashboard is poised to be a game-changer in the ongoing fight against GBVF, offering valuable insights into case trends, service delivery, and justice outcomes.
Strengthening Accountability and Prevention
Chikunga highlighted the vital role of the dashboard in strengthening the accountability of the criminal justice system.
The tool will help monitor the implementation of key strategies outlined in the National Strategic Plan (NSP), focusing on seven crucial pillars: prevention, justice, accountability, and support for victims, among others.

“The dashboard will enable us to track implementation across all NSP pillars, providing us with a clearer picture of how effectively our country is responding to GBVF issues on local, provincial, and national levels,” said Chikunga.
This data-driven approach aims to not only hold offenders accountable but also ensure that resources are effectively allocated to areas where they are needed most. By identifying patterns and gaps in the system, the dashboard will allow authorities to make informed decisions for better outcomes.
A Step Toward Comprehensive Prevention and Justice
The launch of the GBVF National Dashboard at the Anglo-American Centre in Johannesburg is a milestone in the government’s broader efforts to eliminate GBVF.
The Minister emphasized that this tool will be integral to tracking the prevention efforts and justice outcomes that form the foundation of the National Strategic Plan.
According to Chikunga, the dashboard will provide “a bird’s-eye view” of the country’s progress and help identify both successes and areas requiring more focus.
