A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday when a pedestrian lost their life after being struck by a bakkie on the N2 highway. The fully-laden vegetable-carrying truck veered off the roadway, colliding with the unsuspecting pedestrian before crash-landing onto Chris Hani Road below the N2.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, paramedics arrived at the scene to find a scene of devastation.

The vehicle, laden with vegetables, had lost control while travelling southbound on the N2. The collision occurred as the truck hit a pedestrian who was seated on the barrier, subsequently plummeting over the barrier onto North Coast Road.
