Springbok won their second Rugby World Cup game this weekend, defeating Romania 76-0 at the Bordeaux Stadium in France.

While the win was a pleasant surprise for many, including full-back Damian Willemse, this game meant a lot more to others.

Willemse thanked the fans for their support and dedicated the Boks’ triumph to a close friend, Benje Momberg, in an Instagram post following the win.

Momberg was recently wounded during a robbery and paralyzed as a result of the crime.

Damian and Benje attended Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch and were members of the school’s first team.

During the game, Willemse was also observed wearing an armband with Benje’s name on it (as shown above).

The Springboks’ next match is against the Irish on September 23rd.
