The Madlanga Commission has postponed the in-camera testimony of dismissed Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan after the death of a family member in a shooting incident on the R21 in Kempton Park.

Khan appeared remotely before the commission on Tuesday morning as scheduled. However, his lawyers told the commission that he was not in a position to testify following the death of his uncle-in-law in the attack on Monday night.

Khan was expected to give evidence concerning ongoing criminal investigations into matters linked to the commission’s inquiry.

The commission said the hearing would therefore not proceed as planned and that a new date for Khan’s testimony had not yet been determined.

Khan Appeared Remotely

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed that Khan joined the proceedings remotely for the scheduled in-camera session.

“The Madlanga Commission can confirm that Mr Feroze Khan appeared before it remotely in camera this morning, however due to the death of a family member resulting from a shooting incident on the R21 in Gauteng last night, Mr Khan is not in a position to testify today,” Michaels said.

The commission said Khan’s testimony had consequently been postponed.

New Testimony Date Yet To Be Set

Michaels said the commission would announce the new date once it had been determined.

“The Commission has, therefore, postponed the testimony of Mr Khan to a date which is yet to be determined, and the Commission will make further announcements in that regard,” he said.

Khan’s evidence was expected to address ongoing criminal investigations relevant to the commission’s inquiry, but no testimony was taken during Tuesday’s scheduled session.
