Ramaphosa has appealed to South Africans not to allow frustrations over service delivery failures to prevent them from participating in the upcoming elections, insisting that progress is being made to improve infrastructure and public services.
The African National Congress (ANC) president made the remarks while campaigning in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Sunday, where he led the party’s voter registration drive in the municipality in his capacity as ANC leader.
His visit coincided with the Electoral Commission’s (IEC) final voter registration weekend before South Africans head to the polls in November.
Ramaphosa Encourages Voter Participation Ahead Of November Elections
Addressing members of the media, Ramaphosa acknowledged that service delivery challenges remain but said visible improvements are beginning to emerge across the country.
He encouraged voters who may have lost confidence because of past shortcomings to take note of ongoing infrastructure projects and the government’s investment efforts.

“Well, what I would say to a person who has been discouraged in the past because of failures of service delivery, I would say they should look at the new developments.
“The developments on infrastructure are ticking up. There’s a great improvement. We said at the beginning of the year that we are deploying R1 trillion and we’re beginning to see that money’s now beginning to flow.”

Ramaphosa said the government’s infrastructure spending programme is starting to gain traction, adding that funding allocated earlier this year is beginning to reach projects on the ground.
The ANC has intensified its voter mobilisation efforts ahead of the November elections, with party leaders engaging communities across the country during the IEC’s final voter registration weekend.
