The case involving alleged underworld kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and four co-accused is set to continue in the High Court in Johannesburg on Monday.
Matlala faces allegations that he masterminded an unsuccessful plot to kill his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, businessman Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubung, widely known as DJ Vettys.

During the latest court proceedings, legal representatives for the accused are expected to submit a formal application seeking the release of evidence they claim remains outstanding.
Defence Seeks Additional Evidence In Matlala’s Attempted Murder Trial
According to information before the court, the defence is requesting access to a statement allegedly provided by a state witness to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
The application is expected to focus on obtaining documents that the defence believes are necessary for the ongoing case.

In addition to the witness statement, the defence is seeking Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) records linked to police vehicles involved in Matlala’s arrest.
The matter is expected to continue before the Johannesburg High Court as arguments around the requested evidence are heard.
