Controversial North West businessman Suleiman Carrim has requested a postponement of his appearance before the Madlanga Commission after submitting a medical report indicating he is unfit to testify.
Carrim had been scheduled to appear before the commission on Monday. However, proceedings were delayed after his legal representatives provided updated medical documentation outlining his current health condition.
His previous appearance, set for 29 April, was also postponed due to health-related reasons. Earlier that month, Carrim was admitted to hospital after collapsing while exercising at a gym in Sandton.

Addressing the commission, chief evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson said a detailed medical assessment had been submitted shortly before Carrim’s scheduled testimony.
“Mr Carrim was due to appear this morning [Monday]. There’s been a lot of toeing and froing in correspondence [with his legal team], the upshot of which is that on Friday, a current medical report, a very detailed current medical report, was furnished, indicating that Mr Carrim is not fit to appear today,” said the commission’s chief evidence leader, Matthew Chaskalson.
