Kaizer Chiefs have made a significant signing by bringing in former SuperSport United defender, Luke Fleurs. The 23-year-old centreback has joined the club on a two-year deal with an option for another season.

Fleurs, who is right-footed, has been training with the Chiefs for a few weeks under the guidance of Molefi Ntseki, who recently departed as head coach.

Fleurs expressed his excitement at joining the Glamour Boys and desire to help the team win trophies.

Kaizer Chiefs have endured a trophy drought of eight seasons and have already been knocked out of two cup competitions this season. However, Fleurs remains optimistic about the team’s prospects.

“I feel so pleased to sign because I always wanted to be part of the Glamour Boys,” Fleurs said. “There is a great bond here, it has that family feel. I just wanted to get started on the job of winning silverware.

This is the biggest club and I want to help us win things. We have been training well and I am used to the set-up. Results haven’t been going our way lately, but we will turn it around through hard work because there is great talent here and we will get it right.”

Kaizer Motaung Jr, the sporting director of Chiefs, spoke highly of Fleurs’ technical abilities and believes that he will fit into the team’s playing style.

“Being a youth international and having experienced the Olympics, plus having many PSL games under his belt, we believe his attributes will benefit the team,” Motaung said.

On Saturday, the chiefs will face Golden Arrows in their upcoming DStv Premiership clash at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.

This will be their first match without Ntseki at the helm. It will be an important test for the team as they look to bounce back and start their journey towards silverware.
