The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal has elected a new provincial leadership team that will steer the party in the province for the next three years.
Sthembiso Ngema has been chosen as the party’s new provincial leader, replacing Francois Rodgers. He will be supported by Martin Meyer, the current MEC, who takes on the role of deputy provincial leader.
Ngema secured the leadership position after defeating Member of Parliament Mzamo Billy. Meanwhile, Dean Macpherson, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure and a DA MP, was re-elected as provincial chairperson.

The newly elected leadership also includes Sandile Mnikathi as first deputy provincial leader. Mnikathi currently serves as deputy mayor of the uMngeni Local Municipality.
Member of the provincial legislature Sakhile Mngadi was elected second deputy provincial leader, while Swelakhe Shelembe, a councillor from Zululand, takes up the position of third deputy provincial leader.

Addressing delegates after the announcement, Ngema said the newly elected leadership would focus on delivering for the people of the province.
“Our duty, our responsibility going forward is to ensure that we deliver to the people of KwaZulu-Natal as we always do and we always keep that promise.”
