Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has described the late Mzikayifane Khumalo as a dedicated public servant who worked to improve the lives of South Africans. Ntshavheni was speaking at Khumalo’s funeral service in Johannesburg on Saturday. Khumalo died in hospital on Monday following a short illness.
President Cyril Ramaphosa granted Khumalo a special provincial official funeral in recognition of his service to government and the people of Gauteng. At the time of his death, Khumalo was serving as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. He was also the chairperson of the CoGTA Portfolio Committee.

Ntshavheni paid tribute to Khumalo for his contribution to public service. The funeral brought together government officials, political colleagues, family members and friends to remember the former Gauteng MEC.

Khumalo previously served as Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. His death followed a short illness that resulted in his hospitalisation.

ANC chief whip in the Gauteng Legislature Lesego Makhubela also paid tribute to Khumalo. Makhubela described him as a man of integrity who remained committed to the ANC.
Khumalo’s contribution to government and public service was also recognised through the special provincial official funeral granted by President Ramaphosa.
