Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday to witness the launch of the party’s election manifesto. With South Africans preparing for the upcoming elections, the event holds significant importance.

Party leader Julius Malema addressed the crowd, highlighting various issues such as social grants, food security, equality, and education. The event has been dubbed “the actual State of the Nation Address,” as the EFF chose to boycott the official address earlier in the week to show solidarity with its leaders who were barred from attending.

In his speech, Malema emphasized the importance of increasing child and old age grants. He argued that providing more financial support to the elderly ensures that the money is used to feed the black child.

Malema dismissed the notion that increasing grants would lead to more children being born into poverty, stating that as president, he would take responsibility for feeding those children.

He proposed raising the monthly grant amount to R4,500 per person, highlighting the positive impact it would have on ensuring children are adequately nourished. The EFF has consistently advocated for a borderless Africa, land restitution, nationalization of key institutions, and social relief for vulnerable individuals.

These policies form the core of the party’s election manifesto. Malema’s speech reiterated the party’s commitment to these principles, emphasizing the need to address historical injustices and create a more equitable society.

The EFF’s focus on economic transformation and land restitution aims to rectify the imbalances created by apartheid-era policies. The party advocates for the nationalization of key industries, believing that this will lead to greater economic control and benefit for the majority of South Africans.

Additionally, the EFF supports land reform measures that seek to return land to those who were forcibly dispossessed. These policies aim to address socioeconomic disparities and promote inclusive growth.

Education and equality are key pillars of the EFF’s election manifesto. Malema highlighted the need for improved access to quality education, particularly for disadvantaged communities.

The party aims to address the unequal distribution of resources and ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to succeed. By investing in education, the EFF believes that it can empower individuals and contribute to the overall development of the country.

Malema used the platform to criticize the president and the State of the Nation Address. The EFF’s decision to boycott the official address was a show of solidarity with its leaders who were barred from attending. Malema’s speech provided an alternative perspective on the state of the nation, highlighting the party’s vision for a more inclusive and equitable South Africa.
