Bonginkosi Khanyile, who was accused of involvement in the July unrest, has recently been appointed as the “volunteer-in-chief” and youth leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

This appointment comes after his expulsion from the Patriotic Alliance (PA). The decision to appoint Khanyile was made by the MK Party after a thorough assessment of the issues facing the youth.

The secretary of the MK Party, Thanduxolo Dyodo, stated that Khanyile possesses the right credentials and consciousness to lead efforts in overcoming the numerous challenges faced by the youth.

In a press release on Saturday, Dyodo said, “His role will be to coordinate efforts and organize the youth to rally behind the banner of the MK Party while mobilizing and agitating them to wage popular struggles.”

Last December, Khanyile was expelled from the PA for attending an MK rally where former president Jacob Zuma addressed the crowd. This expulsion led to Khanyile seeking a new political home within the MK Party.

The appointment of Bonginkosi Khanyile as the youth leader of the MK Party highlights the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns and aspirations of the youth. Khanyile’s background and experiences make him well-suited to connect with and understand the challenges faced by young people in South Africa.

As a volunteer-in-chief, Khanyile will play a crucial role in coordinating efforts to empower and mobilize the youth. By rallying them under the banner of the MK Party, he aims to unite young people and engage them in popular struggles that address their grievances and advocate for their rights.

The MK Party, formed from the military wing of the African National Congress (ANC), has a rich history of activism and resistance. By appointing Khanyile, a young leader who has been involved in social and political movements, the party aims to rejuvenate its connection with the youth and reassert its commitment to fighting for their interests.

Khanyile’s appointment also reflects the growing influence of the MK Party as a political force in South Africa. With his track record of activism and his ability to mobilize and inspire young people, Khanyile brings valuable expertise and energy to the party.
