ANC's Mantashe Calls For Disciplinary Charges Against Zuma.

The African National Congress (ANC) national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, has stated that former President Jacob Zuma should face disciplinary charges for his recent actions.

However, due to the upcoming general elections, it has become difficult to initiate these charges. Speaking on 702 on Thursday, Mantashe expressed his belief that Zuma is aware of the rift between him and the governing party.

Despite Zuma’s claims of remaining loyal to the ANC, he has been actively campaigning against the party as the public face of the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

Mantashe suggested that it would be prudent to document Zuma’s public commentary about the ANC, enabling them to formally confront him and confirm the termination of his membership in the party.

He further emphasized that Zuma’s recent statements have caused significant turmoil within the organization.

Zuma’s rhetoric has been characterized by a portrayal of the ANC under President Cyril Ramaphosa as a subservient entity that worked solely for his benefit during his presidency.

Mantashe, however, asserted that the ANC’s core principle is that no individual is greater than the party itself and that lessons on this matter were even imparted by Zuma himself within the ANC.

While disciplinary charges against Zuma may be delayed for now, Mantashe’s stance underscores the ANC’s commitment to upholding its integrity and ensuring that no member is exempt from accountability.

The party’s focus remains on the upcoming elections, but it is clear that Zuma’s actions have left a lasting impact on the organization.
