Three male suspects aged between 23 and 33 have been apprehended in the Mankweng location outside Polokwane. They are believed to be connected to the brutal murder of a 24-year-old male university student on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
According to the police report, the victim, who was a student at the University of Limpopo, was walking with a friend near Gate Two when they were confronted by three unknown male suspects.
The suspects attempted to rob them, but the victims bravely resisted. In a shocking turn of events, one of the suspects produced a sharp object and fatally stabbed the 24-year-old victim in the upper body.

The security guards stationed at the gate witnessed the incident and managed to apprehend two of the suspects, who were subsequently handed over to the police. However, the third suspect managed to flee the scene on foot.
Thankfully, the third suspect later surrendered himself to the police on May 13, 2024, accompanied by his parents.
The 24-year-old victim was rushed to Mankweng Hospital for immediate medical attention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.
The three suspects are expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate Court on Tuesday, May 14, 2023, where they will face a charge of murder. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
