The high-profile trial against alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack is about to take an interesting turn as a cellphone technology expert prepares to testify.

The focus of this testimony will be on co-accused Zane Killian, who is accused of using cellphone technology to trace the locations of slain top cop Charl Kinnear and criminal attorney William Booth, among others.

Modack, Killian, and 13 other co-accused are facing a total of 124 charges, including murder, attempted murder, managing a criminal enterprise, money laundering, and defeating the ends of justice.

The state alleges that Modack and his co-accused are responsible for Kinnear’s murder and Booth’s attempted murder. Specifically, the state’s case is that Modack, Killian, Ziyaad Poolem, and Toufeek Brown conspired to carry out these crimes.

Killian, in particular, is accused of unlawfully tracking the locations of Kinnear and Booth and attempting to intercept messages from their cell phones. To shed light on these allegations, a cellphone technology expert is set to take the stand in the Western Cape High Court later today.

The expert’s testimony will likely provide crucial insight into the technical aspects of how Killian may have used cellphone technology to track the victims and intercept their communications.

This evidence will play a significant role in determining Killian’s involvement and potential guilt in the crimes he is accused of.
