President Cyril Ramaphosa recently addressed the youth of Belhar in Cape Town, urging them not to be selective when it comes to job opportunities.

Reflecting on the three years since the launch of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention and the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programmes, Ramaphosa highlighted that these initiatives have created approximately 1.8 million job opportunities for young people.

During his engagement with the youth, Ramaphosa assured them that the government is actively working towards addressing the issue of unemployment. He also shared a personal anecdote from his youth, recounting how he secured a job packing boxes of cigarettes and sweets when he was in grade 11.

This experience taught him the value of hard work and instilled in him the importance of embracing any job opportunity that comes along.

The President emphasized that young people should not solely aspire to secure office jobs, but rather, they should be open to any job, whether it be manual or otherwise. He believes that every job offers valuable lessons in discipline and work ethic, which are crucial for personal and professional growth.

Ramaphosa’s message to the youth is clear: by taking on any job that comes their way, young people can develop a strong work ethic and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in their future careers.

The President’s call to embrace job opportunities echoes the sentiment that work discipline is an essential attribute for success in any field.
