The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has expressed shock and outrage over a horrific attack that took place in Tshidimbini village outside Thohoyandou.

The incident resulted in the dismemberment of a man and severe injuries inflicted upon a woman and her child, allegedly by a male family member.

As they proceeded to the house, they found the decapitated body of a 41-year-old man, tied with a rope. It was later revealed that a 32-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter had already been transported to the hospital after the same family member allegedly attacked them.

The 38-year-old suspect who carried out the horrific attack was apprehended at the scene in connection with this horrifying incident.

The police also seized several items, including a hammer, spade, and knife, believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. As a result, the police have opened a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder against the suspect.

At this stage, the motive behind the attack remains unknown. However, domestic violence cannot be ruled out as a possibility.

Lieutenant General Hadebe condemned the act, stating, “Such senseless, cruel, and inhumane brutality has no place in our society, and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

“No one has the right to take anybody’s life, even with the slightest provocation. We assure everyone affected that justice will be served without fear or favour.”

The suspect is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court soon.
