Springbok star Eben Etzebeth and his wife, singer Anlia are celebrating the arrival of their first child. The couple, who announced the pregnancy after the Rugby World Cup victory last year, took to their timelines on Sunday to share the joyous news that their newborn baby arrived on January 16.
“No words could ever describe the feeling. Thank you, Lord,” Eben and Anlia expressed their gratitude.
Eben and Anlia’s love story began in October 2021 when they were introduced by mutual friends. It didn’t take long for Eben to realize that Anlia was the one, and he wasted no time in asking for her hand in marriage.

In March 2022, Eben announced their engagement, proudly showcasing Anlia’s diamond ring and expressing his excitement:
“The beginning of the rest of our life. I’ve never wanted to hear the ‘yes’ word so badly. You’ve made me the happiest person on the planet.”
The couple tied the knot at the beautiful La Paris Estate in Franschhoek, Western Cape. Among the guests were Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel, who joined in celebrating their special day.
Eben and Anlia have never been shy about openly expressing their love for each other. Anlia, who has been a supportive presence at her partner’s rugby matches, even had the honor of singing the national anthem before the third Test against Wales in July 2022.
In addition to her musical talents, Anlia also wrote a song titled “Saam Suid Afrika” in support of her husband before the Rugby World Cup. Her unwavering support and love for Eben Etzebeth have been evident throughout their journey together.
Now, as they embark on the beautiful journey of parenthood, Eben and Anlia are filled with joy and gratitude. The arrival of their little one has brought immeasurable happiness, and they are ready to embrace the joys and challenges that come with being parents.
