A female police officer from the Botlokwa police station in Limpopo is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting and killing her son and his girlfriend during a heated argument.
The shocking incident occurred on Thursday at around 10 p.m. when the officer called the police to report the tragedy.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the officer recounted the events to the authorities after the dispute at her residence escalated.

When the police arrived, accompanied by paramedics, they found the officer’s 25-year-old son unresponsive, with gunshot wounds and a sharp object still clutched in his hand.
Tragically, his 16-year-old girlfriend, also shot, was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries the following day.
Two Murders, One Arrest: Police Investigate Double Homicide
The police quickly opened two murder cases following the fatal shootings. The officer was arrested immediately after the incident, and the investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the dispute is ongoing.
Colonel Ledwaba confirmed that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate is handling the case, ensuring an independent review of the events.
The female officer is set to appear in the Morebeng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 17, 2025. As the investigation continues, the community remains in shock over the tragic turn of events.
Police Officers in Separate Incident Arrested for Theft
In a separate and equally alarming case, three police officers from Modjadjiskloof, near Tzaneen, were arrested on charges of housebreaking, theft, and malicious property damage.
The officers, aged 37, 47, and 50, allegedly broke into a station storeroom and stole cigarettes that were part of an ongoing criminal case.
The theft came to light when the officer responsible for the storeroom was informed that it had been opened without authorization. A subsequent investigation revealed that the officers had unlawfully entered the room and stolen the cigarettes.
One of the officers, a senior member, later admitted to witnessing the crime but claimed to have told his colleagues to return the stolen goods.
The three officers will appear in Tzaneen Magistrates Court on April 4, 2025, facing charges of housebreaking, theft, and malicious property damage.
